Some Items of Housekeeping

Happy Thursday....or....whatever day you get around to reading this. Just a few things to share today.

1. After MUCH toil and strife, it is now official: I have a BREAKING NEWS ticker! What is it, you say? Just look UP. It ticks the news that I need to break to the world. Most of the time, it will mean nothing to most of you...and many times, it will include a nod to some of you. This is something I have wanted to add for a long time, and thanks to the help of my good friend and old college roomate, Cody Teare, it has now come to pass. Hooray for breaking news! And please feel free to forward any 'BREAKING NEWS' stories you might have to share. I'll see what I can do about getting them up.

2. Today in the Metro, on the Virginia side of the river, I was coming up an escalator and I noticed one of the many advertising signs hanging on the wall. I noticed it for 2 reasons. First of all, it is a sign that has made me laugh in the past, because it's such a weird thing to be advertising. It's a 'Choose to Breastfeed' ad - and it references a website that is called breastfeedvirginia.org. (Click HERE to go there....and then notice that it doesn't actually take to a website called breastfeedviriginia - but instead to the Virginia Dept of Health. Sneaky.) Anyway, something about the sign and address makes me laugh...mostly because it connotates that we should breast feed all of Virginia. But SECONDLY, even more so than before I noticed it because SOMEONE added a little 'artistic flare' to this poster....and it stopped me in my tracks, caused me to take OUT my camera and snap a picture to share with each of you. Enjoy.

So here is the ad (don't mind the devil-scrawl above the middle baby...someone did that on all the signs in the subway.)

And here is a close- up of the 'addition' that stopped me. I mean...it almost looks like it is SUPPOSED to be there. Plus his little lean forward? Priceless.

3. A good and VERY funny friend of mine from home, Amy Thurston, emailed me the other day. Amy and I went to high school together....and Amy is quite possibly one of the funniest people I know. She's definitely in my Top 10 Funny People I Know Personally list. Anyhoo...Amy emailed me a little concerned that I hadn't really referenced her (except for ONE time, in passing, last October on the old GoGloop blog.) She was even nice enough to have an entire BBQ at her house this summer for a bunch of our old friends, while I was home, and I didn't even take ONE picture while I was there! So I didn't have anything to report back to you all about. SO - Amy took matters into her OWN hands and sent me a few pictures - 2 including her, 1 excluding her - that I could put on my blog and FINALLY give her her long-awaited official BLOG DEBUT! So here you go, Amy! Enjoy it! And thanks for the pictures. I'm sure EVERYONE will thank you soon enough. If you love em, thank her, folks! It's through generosity like hers that our site continues to operate.

First things first...here is Amy and I, our senior year of high school, in my parents kitchen...um...taking pictures in the dark of us making faces.

Here is Amy again...but this time with our friend, Kami. Sorry Kami....Amy begged me to put this one on here.

And finally...I don't know if Amy TOOK this picture...but this is at our post-grad senior all-night party. This was the hypnotist show...and you're right...that is me. Don't be jealous of the rolled jean shorts OR the white socks with Teva's. LUCKILY, my good friend, Richelle, is there to stop my head with her knee....or I would've falled completely out of my chair. Oh wait...that's right...I DID!

4. For SOME reason, I accidentally forgot to post THIS picture of Darci Nelson from our beach trip. I love it....so here it is.

That will about wrap things up for today! Thanks for stopping by, friends. See you real soon.
