Look Ma! I'm ART!

So Saturday, a random splattering of my friends and I embarked on a Washington DC adventure...to explore the new Ansel Adams exhibit at the Corcoran Gallery of Art here in Washington DC. It was a pretty cool exhibit....but honestly, what can you really SAY about it other than the fact that it was, indeed, a big exhibit of a bunch of black and white really great Ansel Adams pictures. End of story.

Some of the gang! L-R: Suzanne and Cory Clegg with their son Max, Rachel Oliphant, Christy Banker and Darci Nelson.

The REAL highlight of the trip to the Corcoran, though, was the random little 'do it yourself' art exhibit across the hall in the Exploration Gallery. The installation was basically a camera that allowed you to snap your own candid picture...and then it projected the pictures up on the wall...and cycles through the hundreds of pictures that other people have taken when they came through the exhibit. The 'artists' who put the exhibit together said basically that they were inspired by how uninhibited people become when it comes to having an instant-camera-type-setting. (Think the old Polaroid Instamatics. Man I miss those things......) Anyway....their theory is true. After some poking and prodding, most of us ended up stepping infront of the camera and letting our guard down...and having a great time watching ourselves up on the wall of the Corcoran!

And then I waited for them to cycle through again...and snapped pictures! Enjoy the fruits of our artistic labor!

Here's how it worked: down in the left hand corner, Kaylyn is getting her picture taken...and the strange man looking strained in the picture is Cory Clegg.

And here is Kaylyn's finished product.

Here is Cory and Max.

Another appearance by Max.

One of my favorites of the collection....me yelling at Darci. And Darci just giggling.

I FINALLYtalked Rachel Oliphant into a picture. And she returned the 'favor' by simply laughing at me.

As close to a group shot as we got. Darci in the back corner, Max observes the situation, and then Rachel, Suzanne and myself huddle to the left. Christy decided to back out and leave the GAPING hole there over Max's head.
